Bénédicte Coulm has been appointed senior lecturer in Midwifery
Bénédicte Coulm has been appointed Senior Lecturer in Midwifery at Sorbonne University's, on September 1st, 2024.
Midwife for 16 years and epidemiologist, her first research projects were carried out within the EPOPé team (Obstetrical, Perinatal and Pediatric Epidemiology Research Team) (INSERM UMR-S 1153, Université Paris Cité), at the Port-Royal maternity hospital.
Particularly interested in the medical care for pregnant women “at low obstetrical risk” at the time of birth, she has coordinated the 2016 French National Perinatal Survey, before joining the French Reference Center on Teratogenic Agents (Centre de Référence sur les Agents Tératogènes, CRAT) at Trousseau Hospital in 2017, directed since 2022 by Benoît Marin, (Département Santé Publique Rive Gauche, GHU APHP.Sorbonne Université). Within this unique center in France, her medical and epidemiological skills have been enriched by an extensive knowledge in pharmacology and pharmaco-epidemiology in the fields of pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility.
In line with her expertise and interests, Bénédicte Coulm joined IPLESP's PEPITES team in September 2022 as a research engineer, as part of the creation of a pharmaco-epidemiology research axis by Benoît Marin, on the health consequences of drug exposure during pregnancy.
Her research project, conducted in close collaboration with Benoît Marin, focuses on the risks of drug exposures during pregnancy (embryonic, fetal, maternal, neonatal and remote aspects), as well as on the knowledge, attitudes, practices and perceptions of these risks among women and healthcare professionals.
At the same time, Bénédicte Coulm teaches mainly to midwifery students at Sorbonne University, and keeps a regular medical activity within the CRAT.
